Raymond's Story

GROWING UP TOO SOON

Raymond grew up facing the kinds of challenges that should have made continuing his education impossible — financial pressure, limited resources and uncertainty about the future. But he had something that no circumstance could take away: the determination to build a different life.

THE OPPORTUNITY

When Raymond connected with Agang Sechaba Trust, everything began to change. With bursary support covering his tuition and help with everyday essentials, he was finally able to focus on what he came to university to do: learn.

THE TURNING POINT

Raymond’s first semester was one of the hardest of his life — but also the first time he truly believed the future was his to shape.

With his accommodation secured and a small monthly stipend covering essentials, Raymond could focus entirely on his studies for the first time. He passed every module.

“I came from a place where education felt like it belonged to someone else. Agang Sechaba Trust made it mine.”

— Raymond, Diploma in Electrical Engineering

RAYMOND TODAY

Raymond graduated with a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and is now employed at a renewable energy firm in Johannesburg.

He still calls Agang Sechaba Trust when he needs advice. “They didn’t just fund my education,” he says. “They gave me the belief that I deserved a future.”

Education didn’t change Raymond’s circumstances.

It changed Raymond.

Today he earns, he saves, and next year he plans to mentor Agang Sechaba Trust students — giving back exactly what was given to him.
